Vietnam's coffee exports may reach US $3 billion in 2014

Reported that the Vietnamese Coffee-Cocoa Association (Vicofa) put forward proposals for coffee development during the period from 2014 to 2017. First, continue to maintain a coffee planting area of 570000 hectares, an annual output of 130-1.4 million tons, and exports of more than 1 million tons, ensuring that Vietnam's coffee share accounts for 17% of world coffee exports; at the same time, Vietnamese coffee needs to solve three major problems: too many small-scale coffee growers, too many coffee sellers, and coffee beans are the main export products. The second is to raise the price by improving the quality of coffee cultivation, with the recognition rate of coffee rising from 20% to 25% in 2014. On the trade side, it will increase exports to emerging coffee markets such as China, Japan, Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe, and increase domestic coffee sales to 15% of the total within five years. At the same time, it is suggested that the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance should set up a coffee development foundation to replace the coffee export insurance fund.
