Djimmah has the largest coffee acreage in Ethiopia. These coffees are famous for their rich taste and acidity. Djimmah grows at an altitude of 1341-1829 meters. It is an ideal climate and plants are well protected by larger forest trees to provide shade from the noon sun and to preserve moisture in the soil. Growing in the Illubabor and Kaffa regions of Ethiopia, Djimmah coffee is the largest catchment in Ethiopia at 4400 to 6000 feet above sea level. The region produces and exports about 60, 000 tons of coffee a year, accounting for the vast majority of Ethiopia's annual coffee production. Djimmah is also called Jimma Coffee. A unique coffee that is thought to taste closest to the original wild plant. Its gentle feature is to counteract the subtle aftertaste. Strong earthy flavor, with aromas of black cocoa and walnut. The palate is rich, with low acidity and a long finish.
