People have been debating whether coffee is good or bad for health. A new study published by Harvard University in the Journal of Diabetes has found that drinking three cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia is caused by defective insulin secretion or impaired biological effects, or both. The long-standing hyperglycemia in diabetes leads to chronic damage and dysfunction of various tissues, especially eyes, kidneys, heart, blood vessels and nerves, which can be divided into two categories: type 1 and type 2.
