The background of Secret Satipo Coffee producing area introduces the characteristics of Satipo

Satipo is a Peruvian town located in the Junín region of central Peru, the capital of the province of Satipo, at an altitude of 628m. Located east of the Andes, between San Martín in the north and Cuzco in the south, it is part of the Junín coffee-growing region, which is culturally diverse.

Coffee is an important crop here, along with cocoa, bananas, citrus, hardwood and yucca. Farms are small, rarely exceeding 2 to 3 hectares, and often remote. In the 1980s and 1990s, leaf rust of coffee was a major problem in the area, and residents were still recovering from the effects of the guerrillas 'brutal war. Despite many difficulties, the inhabitants here are hopeful and hardworking.
