Cooperatives are known to pay producers far more than governments require. In Kenya, cooperatives must pay 80 percent of their final revenue to coffee farmers, and Kithuguru ends up paying 95 percent more than other cooperatives.

[Additional information] About GETHUMBWINI Farm:

Considered one of Kenya's best coffees, gethumwini farms is run by French company SOCFINAF, which has been operating for more than 80 years.

[Location] The farm is located in the northern part of Thika region, 40km north of Nairobi and about 120 km south of Mount Kenya, covering an area of about 1000 acres and coffee cultivation area of about 360 hectares.
