Day Cafe designed by everyone

Schemata's challenge this time is to mobilize everyone to join the construction of a cafe in Shizuoka prefecture called Day.

It is usually difficult to involve amateurs in the process of building, because it will inevitably reduce the quality of the building. On the other hand, there are experts may not be able to achieve a perfect building, because users may feel afraid to touch and change it, superstitious authority.

With this idea and model in mind, a cafe is designed to allow everyone to participate in the construction process, so the cafe will become a favorite place for the public, and the place will continue to change and grow, rewarding all visitors.

The cafe has undergone a number of alterations: Schemata Architects renovated and repainted the recycled chairs; Jin Kuramoto redesigned the lamps; Shigeki Fujishiro designed the whole shelf and wooden boxes; Fumikazu Ohara (soup design) designed the guide logo; and Yoshitaka Haba (BACH) orientated the internal books.
