According to Thailand's Chiang Rai Times (ChingRai Times), the Anantara Golden Triangle Hotel in Thailand has become the first hotel in the world to offer shit-like coffee at a retail price of $1100 per kilogram. Currently, only 50 kilograms of shit-like coffee is on sale, about $50 per cup. This dwarfs the Indonesian Kopi Luwak, which retails at between $500 and $600 a kilogram and about $30 a cup. Shit-like coffee beats Kopi Luwak to become the most expensive animal coffee in history.
The bitterness of the Indonesian Kopi Luwak has been greatly reduced, while the black ivory elephant shit coffee does not taste bitter at all, but the price is not low. The cat's digestive system is miraculously crafted, and the elephant's stomach is an artifact! Studies have shown that the reason why this kind of coffee is not bitter is that the enzymes in the elephant's digestive system can digest the protein of coffee beans. Because protein makes coffee bitter, the less protein, the less bitter coffee and the smoother taste. The hotel has an elephant rescue center in northern Thailand, where all the coffee beans are "processed" by 30 elephants.
It is reported that it takes about 33 kilograms of fresh coffee fruit to produce 1 kilogram of "elephant shit coffee", while 1 kilogram of roasted coffee has about 10,000 beans. The fresh fruit of the coffee that produces "Elephant shit Coffee" comes from Arabica coffee trees that grow 1500 meters above sea level. No wonder "Elephant shit Coffee" is called "black ivory" and puts Kopi Luwak, once on the list, in second place.
